5th grade Westward Movement

Kira, Keylee, & Xander
One of my favorite Marlatt 5th grade traditions, the westward movement. Xander has been pumped about this, the 5th graders started with making their own covered wagons, they used a Pioneer simulation and were divided up into wagon trains as they headed on their journey to Hacker Valley.

They wrapped up their unit by giving 3 performances to Marlatt, including a little cotton eyed joe, square & line dancing, and hosting a chuck wagon lunch with families, what a great learning experience.

I have never seen him so serious!! Maybe, deep in concentration.
