Tomorrow

I think Victoria might have sensed our family chaos of getting back into the schedule of school & activities. Maybe she thought Xander could brighten us up at home with a little Annie for now.

Bump, set, go Spikes!

We started Volleyball practice this weekend & the girls came up with the team name Spikes, think it could be awhile before we start spiking it:)

We are pretty excited about our coaches, thank you Angie & Kenz, & managers Cole & Xander
they loved the ducks on the pond, serving game, never heard of it
I learned that you could kick the ball over the net and its legal today, Im going to have to try this!

We celebrated our first successful hour long practice at Taco Lucha, the K State Marching Band joined us.

I think the girls were more interested in the cheerleaders than the band players

I am impressed at how well the girls are doing serving it overhand, keep up the hard work Spikes!

Life in the fast lane

I am not sure if my 4th is going to be cautious, like his older brothers, he is crazy behind the wheel!

Making the Grade & making us cranky

This was played on the today show yesterday and I got a little excited until they revealed that math homework is shown to improve test scores, guess we better get used to it.

We have been blessed by not having a lot of homework at Marlatt, I know a lot of parents like homework, not me, I'm over it and afraid its just begun in 6th grade.
We have gotten our butts kicked by 6th grade math this year, pretty sure Xander is going to get his first B, if that, in what has been his strongest subject in the past. How do you find the cubed root of 6,859 without using a calculator? And this is only the front side of the homework, the kids shouldn't be spending more than 45 min a night on homework, what??? We have spent an hour and half with my help, (which usually isn't much).
I found this contract the kids made & makes me so sad for Jude, my little pleaser will do anything for his siblings even without this:((
On a more positive note, we had missed the swimming banquet and Xander had received the most improved award, he was pretty excited about this.

Labor Day

Tia had a really great idea to run 10 miles on Labor Day. My parents had come up for a couple days, (we love this), so Grampy and the 2 bigs joined us. I have not run more than 6 miles in months!

Xander and Roe hopped on their bikes at mile 3, we were blessed with gorgeous 60 degree weather in the am and made for some great family time, rather than our usual games and eating:)
All that volleyball must pay off, Kenz beat Xander in arm wrestling, more than once...

Of course we did our share of eating too, we opted for Mr.K's instead of our plan to grille, enough work with running, we didn't want to prepare or clean up any messes.

Mr. Sandman

We went out with the Miller's Sunday afternoon on their pontoon, my kids only ask them
every time we see them to go, they are more than spoiled by their Aunt & Uncles.
Mud mask made at tuttle puddle
Jude made besties with David, will you throw me?
helping Uncle Eddie drive the pontoon

mud fight

stuck in the mud, come on boys, we don't weigh that much!
Scotty made Kingston his own shady spot, very hard to find at the beach:)
I had never seen the diaper life jacket before, apparently it works well

David & Kenz trying to get some alone time Im sure
getting some volleyball tips from Aunt Angie

a Wild weekend

get your game day shirt at Dillons:) 12.99, cheaper than Target!
King got a twofer playdate for a bit on Friday, love these Zeka babes!
The purple power play was miserably hot this year, after Jude had what sounded like an asthma attack in the bounce houses, he insisted on climbing the rock wall barefoot, yes, great idea!

There was no time limit in the bounce house, so the kids took full advantage.
Team Crocker graciously invited us up to their suite for the game, so fortunately I did more socializing than watching the game, this was probably a good thing:)
It was beautiful, we did get lost a few times, and I definitely felt more like I was at a wedding than a football game. I think it was a great game to be in the air conditioning for, lots of sweating going on outside.
My hub gets just a little excited for the games;)
