Xander opted out of traveling baseball this year and joined the Marlins in April to keep in shape, he has been swimming at a chilly 7am this summer. We know nothing about swimming, Im pretty sure I couldn't make it across the pool doing a backstroke.
He has loved it so far and not sure if the newness will wear off but he says "Mom, they are the best sports and always cheer me on", think this would be the girls mostly, go figure.
Trav took him Friday for his first event and favorite freestyle he finished in 39 seconds, a great start! He was pretty disappointed to say the least I didn't make it to watch him, but we all went down Saturday for his other 2 events. I was slightly nervous about the speedos and was thankful when finding out you could buy the longer length.
getting pointers from Coach Rob, this is what Xander needs to do on his breaststroke:)
getting cozy
All of these families just camp out in spots with snacks, drinks & listen to pump up music during swim warm ups, now to recruit some more families to join us! Free to get in and 4.00 per event, bring in your own cooler, this is my kind of meet!
warm ups
staying warm between events
He needs to shave 5 to 10 seconds off his breaststroke and backstroke according to the motivational times for the 11 to 12 year old age group, I think I know some peeps that could help him (Jeanne & David?) Oh and he wants to get a swimming cap too, that should help;)
