Stuck in the 90's
I was talking with a friend who was totally making fun of the 40ft corded phones that she thought were obsolete, no way, the Says still have one, they are the best!

Dear Tia,
Can we come visit? How nice is this new pad, that would belong to my sister. (Not Millers or Pond Ponderings), the one with no blog. Let me give you a little history here, I think she missed more highschool than she attended, aced the ACT's with a hangover and has some impressive muscles. How did we come from the same parents? Her CEO self has ventured from Chicagoland to New York and now on to Charlotte, while Im here in Tornado land. Are you sensing some envy, b/c if so you are right.

Slumber Party... mostly party with a little slumber
We had our first slumber party last nite, talk about entertainment. This may be better than date nite, these kids are hilarious, it is so funny to watch how their roles are already emerging as little people. I thought for sure we would lose a few, I would get homesick until I was 15 I think, but not so much. Did I mention it was co-ed? They were sleeping by midnight and up by seven. No fights, no accidents, I would say it was a success.

Going off the deep end
Perhaps I have mentioned before my very very favorite thing about parenting is watching my kids learn and their confidence build. Watch clippage of my fishes, who will hopefully soon become divers.

Not lovin thy neighbor
Okay, so I may have mentioned before that my neighbor is the biggest cranky grouch ever? She has never smiled or looked me in the eye but has chewed me out several times. Here is the scenario, the meter reader dude comes to our gate, of course our dogs are going to bark at him. A stranger coming on to their territory. I immediately go out to get the dogs and kennel them, and hear her yelling, yelling, from her kitchen window, "Put those dogs away, put those dogs away, nobody can come over without them barking". I really need to find her a date or something, seriously. So today I yelled back, I did, after 6 years. Here is me, "Maybe if you weren't so rude and grumpy they wouldn't bark at you, do you think I would have viscious dogs with 3 young kids?" Ohhh, it was so cleansing to do this. Seriously, what does she want us to do get rid of our dogs. I promise I know how annoying barking dogs are, but this is not the case. It is only if a stranger comes to her backyard (which they do on occasion to tend her yard), but I immediately put them up, (within 2.5 minutes tops). I think Im going to write a Dear Abby and get some advice, or if anyone knows any 90+ yr old single men who could make my neighbor happy let me know.

There's no place like home
So Im still in shock that the little Apple was hit by a tornado less than 48h ago, I feel a tremendous amount of guilt that we were untouched while others lost everything, here I was feeling crappy that we lost power for 10 days in December after the ice storm. God reminds us that we shouldn't focus on earthly possessions, in a split second they are gone. Wow he had to be close by when nobody was injured in this mass craziness destruction. So true that in times of suffering you definitely reevaluate your priorities.
Our safe place, a very small dark closet below our steps, we all squeezed in here believe it or not, quite cozy.
View from above of Miller Ranch.
Tornado path, I arrowed where my sister and I were in the path, less than a mile away in each direction.

Your invited to our coloring party
My kids have really been wanting to have a party, they were up until 11:30 the other nite planning this party, waiting for their friends to show up. Seriously, they have it in their heads that they plan a party and miraculously the kids start showing up. Its kind of cute, on of the 15 things they taped to the wall was the above pic:
Translated says, We are going to make pop-tarts and pancakes too and cinnamon rolls and donuts and waffles.
Who wouldn't want to come to this party?

We conquered the hill
We took the fams this weekend to Crown center to partake in a half-marathon. It wasn't pretty, but definitely memory making, lets not forget the 80yr olds at mile 8 passing out snickers, "You gotta have some chocolate to get you up those damn hills!" Or the big pile of barf at mile 7 Mark so kindly pointed out. More pics and stories of what the boys and the kids did later...

What the hail?
So I drop Xander off at Vacation Bible School and head to Panera (my daily stop). Next thing you know we are in a big fat storm, with the sirens going and softball size hail. Jen and I entertained 6 kids at Panera, while Xander learned about how powerful Jesus is in the basement of the church. I would say so check out the pics above, several cars and houses had their windows shattered, wowser!
