Clepto
I previously posted about Roe taking things from the kitchen and hiding them under her bed. I am putting my foot down, this evening we left our friends and I noticed a bulge in the front of her dress she was covering up with her doll. She had a little stuffed monkey of Saylor's all tucked in, we had to have a family meeting and Trav even mentioned Kids Jail (what is that?)

Fish Tacos
Fish Tacos
Halibut and cod work especially well with these low fat fish tacos (I used tilapia). Bake, broil or grill the fish after briefly marinating it, and serve with your choice of low fat or fat free garnishes on top of warm corn tortillas.
INGREDIENTS:
2 tbsp lime juice
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp olive oil
2 tbsp freshly chopped cilantro
1 pound firm white fish fillets such as halibut or cod
8 corn tortillas
PREPARATION:
In a small bowl, combine lime juice, cumin, olive oil and cilantro. Place fish in a glass baking dish or in a resealable plastic bag. Add marinade. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
Coat a nonstick baking sheet with cooking spray and preheat oven to 350 degrees.
serve with salsa and fat-free sour cream
WOW, would definitely recommend the recipe above, thanks Mary Foster. Of course I used cheese, regular sour cream, not exactly fat free, but tasty. I should really cook more b/c I am grateful that my hubby is so easy to please when it comes to food. Me on the other hand, I usually spend a lot of time making something and then am sick of it by the time it is served. I had thirds and I am not a big fish fan, the Alice White Shiraz was a nice addition.

Don't judge a book by its cover
I should have learned my lesson by now about checking out books at the library. Usually my hands are full so I let Roe pile up the books and we bring them home and read them. Well, "The Lemonade Club" sounds pretty harmless (she likes lemonade and clubs). As I am reading to Roe, one of the girls in the story loses weight and is diagnosed with Leukemia and loses her hair. It gets worse, the teacher in the class is then diagnosed with breast cancer. I attempted to start making up words so I didn't tear up as I was reading the book. So probably a great book if your wanting to teach your kids about sickness and hope, but for a light reading wouldn't recommend it if you were interested in lemonade stands.

Food Storage
Drama queen
I enjoyed a puppet show put on by Roe and Kendal. Until it was time for ballet and we couldn't find Roe's leotard. She had to wear an old leo with no skirt and cried "but I don't look beautiful". Her friend Kendal was super sweet and repeatedly told her "Well I think you look beautiful". WOW, I never realized how much drama there can be when you are only 3.

Peek a boo Jude
Food bribes work
So Xander shows interest in school, but more social than academic. He is starting to read us books, that is really amazing, but we have been focusing on numbers. His assignment, picture above, was to write from 1-20. He was not so much interested until I bust out the Edy's cookie dough ice cream. Another one of those parenting things I swore I would never do, but it worked beautifully.

I am not sure who enjoyed the High school musical dance mat more Trav or Roe, I was cracking up at these moves, very entertaining.
